Name Architects is pleased to share the completion of a recently finished project in Stoke Newington, North London. The project involved the comprehensive refurbishment and reconfiguration of a mid-terrace Victorian house, including a double-height rear extension, side infill extension and a new mansard loft addition.

The house has been carefully re-planned to support contemporary family life while retaining the character of the original building. The rear extension accommodates an open-plan kitchen and dining space with fully openable glazing to the garden, balanced by a more traditional front sitting room to the front of the house. The upper floors provide four bedrooms alongside a dedicated home office, arranged through a series of considered structural interventions.

The project first landed on our drawing board in February 2023, commenced on site in March 2025 and reached Practical Completion in June 2025. Early pre-application discussions with Hackney Council supported a successful planning outcome at first submission. This project represents one of the practice’s most extensive completed works to date, forming a complete reinvention of the Victorian terrace through careful planning, structural clarity and restrained architectural expression.
